I received an email from a mutual friend today about the passing of Dee.Many of you know Dee from her activity on the pages of OldNewark a few years ago.She passed away in her sleep the day after Thanksgiving after a short bout with cancer.Dee was born on July 5,1949 and grew up in the Ironbound on Elm Rd.She was a graduate of East Side HS. Dee leaves behind her loving family, Bill, David, Jeremy and daughter in law Caroline, and her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa and William. Her sons had a memorial service for her and she was cremated. Her oldest son, Bill said he was thinking of bringing her ashes to Jersey and releasing them along the Hudson River where NY/NJ was so close in her heart.

May she Rest in Peace

I'm editing this tonight because I was pretty much in shock upon hearing the news of Dee's passing.Dee did in life what many of us are afraid to do, she moved back home, to her beloved Newark a few years ago.She was lucky enough to be able to move in with a good friend, JoAnn, on Komorn St. She really wanted to settle in the Ironbound near her childhood stomping grounds. Unfortunately, she could not find a job and decided to head back to Florida and most of her family.Although she did not get back online , she kept in touch with me, always asking about OldNewark and all of her friends here on OldNewark.I thank God for allowing me the honor of getting to know her, although for a short while.
